The Power of Story

Storytelling is one of the oldest and most powerful human tools. The stories we tell about ourselves and our world create our reality. We use story to reconcile the past and leave it behind us. We also use story to shape the present and create a more powerful future.

At Modern Muse, we take a unique approach, supporting visionary authors and conscious thought leaders crafting stories and messages into powerful, highly effective manuscripts that entertain and inspire.

Our clients expand their writing and storytelling skills by learning craft; cultivating voice, writing compelling scenes, creating unforgettable characters, and mastering plot and narrative arc.

We also take our clients deeper than the basics of strong writing by teaching them to apply innovative mindfulness techniques including visualization, meditation, and journeywork for crafting manuscripts that linger and leave a lasting impact on readers.

We teach our clients to become lifelong writers. They learn how to identify and clear blocks to their writing careers and pave the way for profound stories to come through them onto the page. Writing can be a lonely endeavor, and yet when you partner with Modern Muse, it doesn't have to be. From initial concept to writing a first draft, editing and revising to publication, we offer services to guide and support every step of the way.

The result? “Illuminated manuscripts” -- books that enlighten and expand awareness through authentic, compelling storytelling.

If there is one thing I would have done differently in my process of writing my book it would have been to hire Bridget a lot sooner than I did. Bridget has been an essential and invaluable part of my team. As a coach and editor, she is honest, grounded and brutally thoughtful. She rolled up her sleeves and jumped right into my writing and my vision, making my book so much better than I could have imagined. I could not recommend more and I truly don't think my final manuscript would have been truly complete without her. She is absolutely amazing!!

Bridget Boland is a modern muse, a book doula, therapist, astute intellect and a compassionate, insightful and motivating guide for life.  Together we worked on my manuscript for nine months, and now I feel prepared to offer it to the world. I trust the thoughtfulness of her opinions and the skill with which she suggests.  If you’re looking for support for your manuscript or in life, connect with Bridget and glide to new knowing, confidence, clarity, claiming and insight. With her help, my book feels ready to leave the nest.

Lisa Glasgow is an excellent manuscript editor. I have had the pleasure of working with her for the past 14 years, during which time she has edited over 20 of my novels, novellas and short stories. Her input, sense of story, characterization, fresh ideas and ability to tighten prose have been invaluable. She has helped me polish manuscripts that led to multiple book deals and publications. Any author, whether writing fiction or nonfiction, would be in good hands working with Lisa as their editor. I highly recommend her for your next book project.
